Privacy policy
Last updated November 6, 2026
The short version
- Your Notes are yours. We don't sell your data, show ads, or use your Notes to train AI models.
- To answer your Questions, parts of your Notes are sent to the AI services listed below.
- Voice recordings are turned into text and not kept.
- You can export your Notes or delete your account from Settings at any time.
Who we are
NovoMemo is run by Imaginovo ("we"). This policy covers the NovoMemo app on the web, iOS and Android, and the novomemo.com website. For anything about your privacy, email support@novomemo.com.
What we collect
- Account details: your email address and an account ID. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we also receive what they share, which can include your name.
- What you write: your Notes, your chat Messages and the AI's replies, and the search data we build from your Notes (see below).
- Voice: what you record when you tap the mic. The audio passes through our servers to be transcribed and isn't stored, and the app deletes its copy once it has been read. The text you get back is treated like anything else you write. We only use the microphone after you tap the mic.
- Plan and usage limits: your time zone, which decides when your limits reset, how many Questions and voice minutes you've used, whether you have Premium, and a record of when that changed and through which payment provider.
- Usage analytics: anonymous counts of events, such as a Note being created or a Question being asked. They're stored with no link to you or your account. They're on by default, and you can turn them off under Settings → Privacy.
- Technical logs: our hosting providers keep standard logs of requests, which can include your IP address and device or browser type. We use these to keep the service running and secure.
We don't receive your card details. RevenueCat and Stripe (on the web), Apple and Google handle payment information directly.
How we use it
- To store and sync your Notes across your devices.
- To answer your Questions from your Notes, make changes you ask for in chat, and transcribe your voice.
- To sign you in, apply your plan's limits, and process subscriptions.
- To keep the service secure, fix problems and understand, in aggregate, how it's used.
- To reply when you contact us, and to send sign-in codes and other messages the service needs.
- To meet our legal obligations.
If you're in the EEA or UK, our legal bases are performing our contract with you, our legitimate interests in running a secure and reliable service, your consent where we ask for it, and legal obligations.
How the AI uses your Notes
When you save a Note, its text is split into sections and sent to OpenAI to create embeddings, the search data that lets NovoMemo find relevant sections. When you ask a Question, your Question is sent the same way. The most relevant sections of your Notes and your current conversation are then sent to an AI model through OpenRouter to write the answer.
We set these answer requests, and voice transcription, to use only hosts that OpenRouter lists as keeping no data. OpenAI's API terms say API data isn't used for training by default and may be kept for up to 30 days to monitor for abuse.
NovoMemo is not end-to-end encrypted, so our systems can process your Notes in order to provide these features. We don't look at your Notes ourselves unless you ask us to for support, or we need to in order to protect the service or follow the law.
Who we share it with
We don't sell your personal information or share it for advertising. We share it only with the providers that run NovoMemo, when the law requires it, or if our business is transferred, in which case this policy continues to protect your data.
- Supabase: database, sign-in and server functions. It stores your account and Notes in the United States.
- Cloudflare: hosts the web app and website.
- OpenAI: creates embeddings from Notes and Questions.
- OpenRouter and the AI hosts it routes to: writes answers and transcribes voice.
- RevenueCat: subscriptions on the web, iOS and Android. It receives your account ID and purchase status, and its web checkout collects your email address and payment details.
- Stripe: processes card payments for web subscriptions through RevenueCat.
- Apple and Google: in-app subscriptions on iOS and Android.
- Apple and Google: sign-in, if you choose them.
- Google Fonts: supplies fonts for the novomemo.com website, so Google receives your IP address when you visit it.
Where your data is stored
Your account and Notes are stored in the United States, and our providers may process data in other countries. Where the law requires it, we rely on safeguards such as standard contractual clauses for these transfers.
The app also keeps a copy of your Notes on your device so it works offline, and on the web your sign-in session is kept in browser storage. Signing out removes the Notes from that device once they've synced. We don't use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
How long we keep it
- Your Notes and conversations stay until you delete them or your account.
- Deleting your account permanently removes your account, Notes, search data, conversations, usage limits and purchase history from our database. Copies in our provider's backups are removed as those backups expire.
- Anonymous analytics are kept after you delete your account, because nothing in them points to you.
- RevenueCat, Stripe, Apple and Google keep payment records under their own policies and legal duties.
Your choices and rights
- Get a copy: Settings → Export gives you a zip of your Notes as Markdown files.
- Correct or delete: edit or delete any Note, or delete your whole account under Settings → Danger zone.
- Analytics: turn them off under Settings → Privacy.
Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to access, correct, delete or move your data, object to or limit how we use it, and withdraw consent. California residents have rights to know, delete and correct their information and not to be discriminated against for using these rights. To use any of these rights, email support@novomemo.com. If you're unhappy with our answer, you can complain to your local data protection authority.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit and stored encrypted at rest by our hosting provider, and access rules keep each account's data separate. No service can promise perfect security, so please keep access to your email and devices safe. If a breach affects you, we'll tell you as the law requires.
Children
NovoMemo is for people aged 16 and over. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone younger. If you think a child has given us data, email support@novomemo.com and we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
We'll update the date above when this policy changes, and tell you in the app or by email before an important change takes effect.
